MonsterDraft utilizes three different baselines for computing its values. The baseline is subtracted from each player’s projected fantasy points to arrive at a comparative value. The report can be re-sorted based on any of these baselines. The following baselines are used:
Average Starter – This baseline is the average projected fantasy points for projected starters in your league at each particular position. For example, if your league has 12 teams and starts 2 running backs for each team, the baseline would be the average projected fantasy points for the top 24 running backs.
Lowest Starter – This baseline is the projected fantasy points for the lowest ranked starter in your league for each particular position. For example, if your league has 12 teams and starts 3 wide receivers for each team, the baseline would be the projected fantasy points for the 36 th overall wide receiver.
MonsterDraft Baseline – MonsterDraft calculates its own baseline by taking the Average Starter baseline described above and subtracting ½ standard deviation. Using statistical models, players within 1 standard deviation (½ above and ½ below) of the average are statistically similar (assuming a normal distribution).
